Animated section backgrounds for GoHighLevel

A hero section with a flat colour behind it reads as a template. Ambient motion behind the copy is the cheapest way to make a page feel built, and because it sits behind the content it costs you nothing in readability.

This is the one element that paints somewhere other than itself. Drop it anywhere inside the section you want lit and it walks up to that section, however many rows and columns are nested in between, and covers the container. On a published page the widget itself has no footprint at all. Inside the builder it leaves a small labelled handle so you can select it again.

Flickering Grid

A field of small squares that flicker behind your section, drawn on canvas. Drop the widget anywhere inside the section and it covers the section. It walks up through however many rows and columns you have nested and lights the container itself. On the live page the widget has no footprint at all; in the builder it leaves a small click target so you can get back to its settings.

How to use them

How to use animated section backgrounds in GoHighLevel

  1. 01

Drop the widget inside the section you want to light

Position does not matter. Put it in any row or column inside the target section and it will find the section around it.

  2. 02

    Choose what it paints

Target a section, a row, a column, or any class you type. Use a class when you have several sections and want the background on one specific container.

  3. 03

    Set the layer

The grid can sit behind your content, above the section’s own background, or over the content entirely. Behind the content is the default and the right choice for a hero.

  4. 04

Tune the grid and the fade

Set square size, spacing, colour, brightest and dimmest opacity, and how much of the grid re-rolls each second. Fade towards the edges, the top, the bottom or both so the pattern resolves into the section instead of stopping at a hard line.

Questions

Section Backgrounds, answered

Does the animated background show up as an empty block on my page?
No. On a published page the widget root has no height and renders nothing for visitors, so only the background itself is visible. Inside the builder it shows a small labelled pill so the element stays selectable.
Will a canvas background hurt performance?
It pauses when scrolled past and pauses in background tabs, and it can render a coarser grid on phones. You can also set the re-roll rate to zero for a completely static pattern that still fades and blends.
Why does it cover the section instead of being placed inside it?
GoHighLevel owns the section subtree and re-renders it when a foreign node appears, which would break every other animated element in the same section. The canvas therefore ships inside the widget’s own markup and is positioned over the target rather than inserted into it.
